River Street

Commercial Development – River Street, Ballina, NSW

Our brief was to design a two-storey commercial building which will occupy a landmark position on the western approach into Ballina. A challenge of the site is that the main street façade is the equivalent of three building blocks, considerably longer than the existing streetscape. To achieve a similar rhythm to the surrounding streetscape, the façade has been articulated with a variety of architectural devices and architectural elements such as sunshade fins and cantilevered/recessed balconies. Variety of materials, colours and finish add texture and contrast. A unity to the whole complex is achieved with the glazed wall and floating roof that links the main street elevation.
